Pop-up Gallery.

In a change to previous years we are not holding our annual exhibition in St. John's church hall. Instead we are creating a "Pop Up Gallery. David Hirst's press release explains:

'Pop Up' gallery brings art to the heart of Whitley Bay.

Local painters are brushing up their art for colourful town centre exhibition Shoppers in Whitley Bay will be able to browse their very own local art show when members of a borough Art Group take over an empty shop in the town for a week-long exhibition. The exhibition in the Park View Shopping Centre will showcase the work of local artists who are all members of the North Shields Art Society. The pop-up art gallery will open its doors for the special Winter Exhibition on Monday 25th November and will be open daily until Saturday 30th November. Art Society member, David Hirst, said: "This is the first time that we have put on an exhibition in the Park View Shopping arcade and we’re very excited to have the opportunity to put the spotlight on the wide range of work by our members. We’re looking forward to bringing our paintings to the empty shop and helping to brighten up the town centre with some vibrant and colourful art in the run up to Christmas.” As well as showcasing the work of local amateur artists, the exhibition offers the chance to snap up original affordable art for that unique Christmas gift.
