Summer Exhibition - June 2015

Summer Exhibition 2015

Visitors to Cullercoats Harbour Day will be able to browse their very own local Summer Exhibition of works of art when the North Shields Art Society opens a special pop-up exhibition on Saturday 27th June.

Members of the North Shields Art Society will be holding an exhibition of paintings in the Cullercoats Crescent Club as part of this year's Harbour Day (Saturday 27th June).

It might not be as grand as The Royal Academy but there will still be a wide range of original paintings in watercolours, oils and acrylics by members of the Society on show in our Summer Exhibition!  Many of the works are of local scenes and most will be for sale, providing visitors with the perfect opportunity to pick up an original art work by a local artist.

Entry to the exhibition is free and the exhibition in the Crescent Club will be open to the public from 11am to 4pm. The Crescent Club is situated overlooking Cullercoats beach and harbour.

All the members of the Art Society are amateur artists who work, live or have a connection with North Tyneside. The Society holds weekly meetings at the Linskill Centre in North Shields.

The exhibition continues the long-standing historic connection between Cullercoats and art. The picturesque village is famous as the inspiration for many well-known artists including the American painter, Winslow Homer (1852-1910) who stayed in Cullercoats in the 1880s. Today, the area still inspires artists from near and far.
